Here at Napoleon Junior High and High School, we have a certified therapy dog named Jack.
This is his story..... <3
In January 2022, we found out that we would be getting a sweet little BOY for our school. Of course, we held a gender reveal for the students and had a LOT of fun with baby shower -type activities during lunches! The kids loved it! We also held a naming contest where every 1st period class had the opportunity to submit a name for voting. We ultimately arrived at our winner.... and we introduced Jack the Wildcat to our junior high and high school staff and students on February 14, 2022.
Meet JACK <3
Jack is an Australian Labradoodle. He arrived in our building when he was just over 8 weeks old and became a fixture in hallways and the guidance office. Students stopped in regularly for selfies and snuggles and to celebrate each milestone on Jack's therapy dog journey.
We immediately began with a training regimen. We followed an approved training curriculum for behavior, commands, and socialization. Our focus was on helping Jack to understand the expectations of being in our building daily. It was clear VERY early on that Jack loves his people. He very quickly adjusted to being around junior high and high school aged students and loved walking the halls between classes. It is so fun to hear "Hi, Jack!" and see kids bending for a quick ear scratch as they head to their next class. We also made sure Jack had appropriate rests.... he was still a growing boy!
As we approached May 2022, it was clear that Jack was a perfect addition to our building. He even attended his first Napoleon High School Commencement in his new suit!
