INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES 1 

Fall Semester - 1.0 HS Credit, but will be 3.0 college semester hours on a NSCC Transcript. 

The course focuses on hazard recognition based upon OSHA recommended standards. Students will learn to identify potential hazards in the workplace. In addition, students will develop a greater awareness of hazards in their environment. The course will include two of the four Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) modules with hands on lab exercises. 

  • Module 1:  Safety (Qtr.1/Sem.1-M-R)
  • Module 2:  Quality Practices and Measurement (Qtr.2/Sem.1-M-R)

 

INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES 2 

Spring Semester - 1.0 HS Credit, but will be 3.0 college semester hours on a NSCC Transcript. 

The machine shop course focuses on the basics of hand tools. Students are required to select appropriate tools and identify machining processes with emphasis on safety, tooling, precision, and accuracy. Topics include materials, mechanical fasteners, measurement, tolerance, fit, layout, hand tools, power tools, drilling, grinding, sharpening, hardening, deburring, filing, polishing, layout work on the bench, use of hand taps, and cutting threads with a die. The course will include two of the four Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) modules with hands on lab exercises. 

  • Module 3:  Manufacturing Processes and Production (Qtr.3/Sem.2-M-R)
  • Module 4:  Maintenance Awareness (Qtr.4/Sem.2-M-R)

 

If a student enrolls in this program, they will be expected to remain enrolled in this program throughout the entire year and complete all associated coursework.
